2019 NSW and ACT Sailing Awards

Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club is incredibly proud that our Training Officer Alistair Cross is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Nominations came from clubs big and small all across New South Wales and the ACT and include high flyers and hopefuls for Olympic selection, juniors just starting their sailing, volunteers who put in incredible hours to put races on for club members, professionals who are working for our sport and the promoters who make sure we read about our sport in mainstream media.

It’s time to celebrate the best and the winners will be announced on Saturday 6th July at the 2019 New South Wales & ACT Sailing Awards at Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.

Have a great time Al!

Alistair and daughter Lucy had a big season on the water on board the Nacra 5.8 Who Dares Wins, grabbing first place in the Twilight Series, the Club Championship and the Saturday Pointscore, with a third in the Foundation Cup.

From volunteering to training and sailing, Alistair sets a high bar and we wish him all the best on July 6!

Welcome to Lake Jindabyne Sailing Club. Located in Jindabyne in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains, we sail on the fresh water of Lake Jindabyne. Our sailing program extends from November through to March and we sail on Wednesday (twilight sail followed by bar-b-q dinner) and on Saturday afternoons.

Our members mainly sail Lasers and Hobie Cats but we do have a few other yacht types participating.

We allocate each yacht a Yardstick value as published by Yachting Victoria. For Twilight Racing we adjust the Yardstick depending upon race results. That is, Twilight Racing is scored on a handicap system.Using this method ensures that no matter what your ability is, all sailors have a chance of taking the weekly Handicap Honours trophy.

Why don't you come and join us?
